I ran 5 miles today. I started at a nice tempo pace until the last two miles. They were uphill and my legs were just not having it. That's the problem with living on a hill, no matter where you start, you always end uphill. Otherwise it was a good run. I ended with Intergalatic by the Beastie Boys playing on my phone. You know it's going to be a good day when you end an early morning run with the Beastie Boys. I plan on doing some core stuff later.

They fly by being in a tornado. They are "road killed" by being thrown from the tornado onto the ground. Then they get chainsawed. Then they are roadkill

Today was an 8 mile run at 8:15 average pace. The first 3 miles as always just sucked because it's this straight, subtle uphill road that goes on forever. Eventually you start to wonder if there is no end to this road. Your legs start burning and you just want to die. (In case it isn't apparent, I really hate this road.) But when all seems lost, you finally come to the three mile mark where you turn on to a different road. The next two miles are just fields and a few houses. Today though, I was running past this house and there was a deer standing in the yard. At first I thought it was just a statue as that is a surprisingly common thing(I'm dead serious). I continued to run when out if the corner of my eye I see this blob running at me. I stop just in time as the deer statue that really wasn't a statue dashes in front of me. I was like "GET OUT OF THE WAY BAMBI!".  Anyways, I kept running. I came to the part of the run where you run along the border of this corn field. The corn is just starting to sprout so it's still really tiny. There was this flock of magpies in the field that must have had something against me because they followed me for like two miles. They kept landing and taking off right in front of me. Then the last half mile of my run, I was running past this other field that had like five horses grazing in it. No joke, they all just started neighing at me. Other then the animals deciding to hate me, it was a nice run. I felt good the whole time. I ended my run to Shots by Imagine Dragons, which is my favorite song by them.

Today was one of those days where I didn't want to run. I did because I only had 3 miles to do to top off my 30 miles for this week. Plus I had to try out my new Brooks Adrenaline 16s. Those are pretty sweet(as bright green shoes always are!). On my run I passed the field of horses from yesterday. They were bopping their heads up and down and it was kind of weird. As soon as they saw me they started neighing again. It was more aggressive today. I guess my beef with the animal kingdom continues. This never happened when I had people to run with. All of my running buddies are currently in vacation though so I guess I'll tough it out. I hate running alone though. It helps to have other people to push and motivate you. Ended my run to Shots by Imagine Dragins again. The music gods must be sending me a sign. 🤔

Today was supposed to be seven or eight miles but I decided to do less at about 7 flat pace. I ran from my house to the rec center and then the three mile block around the rec. It was an okay run today. Nothing really exciting happened. The animals didn't seem to be plotting against me so that's a positive. I plan on doing core later today. Ended my run to Empty by Garbage.

I ran the same course from Monday. I didn't quite finish it because being the the clumsy idiot I am, I tripped and jammed my knee. It didn't hurt or anything but I have a history with knee problems so I didn't want to risk an injury. I'm pretty sure I saw Eugene's doppelgänger today. I knew it wasn't him though because I caught him and the real Eugene would have never let that happen. Ended my run to a Linkin Park song but I don't remember what one.

Seven miles in 56:30 today. I tried out a new course today. I've run all of my other courses a lot so it was time for a change. It felt really good and most of it was going down hill or flat. My run for the most part was uneventful until the last 3 miles. I was running down Aggie when I saw these old ladies walking. Now normally I would think nothing of it as old ladies walking down Aggie is normal, but these ladies were smoking. They were doing that intense old lady walk and smoking. I thought about asking for a cigarette because sometimes I think I can smoke and run but then I thought "ehh, better not." And then came the old men motorcycle gang. That was weird. Old men should never wear leather, or bandannas, EVER!!!! Ended my run to Rock Lobster by the B52's.

Seven miles with Reagen this morning. It was nice to catch up with her because I haven't seen her since school let out. We met at the cemetery by our houses. I got there first and while I was waiting I saw like ten owls just perched on these graves. They were kind of creepy at first. I got up really close to them and had a Harry Potter moment so that was sick. The seven miles felt nice and that tops off my thirty miles this week. I'll probably do a small shakeout tomorrow just so my muscles don't tighten up.

Instead of a recovery run I decided to run U Hill with Nathan and Kedric. It sucked. A lot. My legs were dead today. Nathan and Kedric decided to race it and I didn't even try to somewhat keep up with them. I ran/walked up it at a nice, even-ish pace. I had to go slower at times because the trail was super rocky and I didnt want to twist my knee or ankle(I'm a super accident prone person). Finally reached the top and then the three of us jogged to the U. We had a nice talk and then jogged back down the hill which killed my knees. I'm excited for Ragnar next week. 48 hours in a van with five other sweaty, hungry, tired, and slightly annoyed teenagers? FUN!!!!!!!

I checked the weather on my phone and saw that it would be the same in the evening as it was in the morning and went back to sleep. My run was at tempo pace, which is 7:20ish. It felt really good to run fast today. I was really calm and happy after I finished. Ragnar is this week and I'm super excited for it. I have an 8 mile run of death that I have to do, but I'm excited. Ended my run to Nirvana's Smells like Teen Spirit. Did you know you can replace all the lyrics in this song with the word potato? So I ran the Wasatch Back Ragnar this week. S/O to my van (Mason, Christian, Kedric, Eugene) for putting up with me getting lost and any other annoying things I did. S/O to my parents for giving up their weekend to drive sweaty, hungry, tired teenagers in a van for two days straight. S/O to van 2 (Aaron, Austin, Kenny, Kyrie, Ciera, Jordan) for kicking major trash on all their runs.  I was the 4th runner for my team. I ran a 4.4, 3, & 8.1 leg (plus 5 miles, more on that later). My first run was good. I held an 8 flat pace despite it being somewhat hilly and hot. My night run was interesting. I ran my three miles and then Kedrics five mile leg because I missed the exchange. Everyone including me thought I was or was going to have a Criminal Minds moment and get kidnapped. I didn't know where I was and they didn't either. We reunited at exchange 17 luckily. Because I ran 8 miles for my night run, my legit 8 mile leg was rough. I was very sore and tight and my knees were killing me. My time was slow  but whatever. We were short a runner so I am counting my additional 5 miles as running one of her legs since Kedric ran her leg in place of the one I ran for him. I had so much fun and our whole team did really well. I loved hanging with the people in my van. We made so many crazy memories and jokes. I got like 78 kills total so that was pretty awesome.

If anyone has any advice though for treating knee pain and shin splints, it would be much appreciated.

We started off all together but then Jacia, Reagen, and I started picking up the pace and broke off from the group. A mile cool down and then the shoe exercises(basically, you use your shoes as weights and do a few different movements with them. It works well). After that we just sat in the grass and talked for a few minutes and watched some races from the Penn Relays. 9 miles with Jacia and Reagen this morning. Mile warm up and dynamics, then we set out. It was fun to get a good run in with friends. Long runs are the worst alone. We joked around and discussed the upcoming season. We are determined to be region champs this year like the boys team was last year. At about half way through our run, the tiny, white Pomeranian started following us. It kept running in the middle of the road. I was terrified it was going to get run over by some car. That feeling quickly left though when it started running in front of me. It kept almost tripping me and that pissed me off. The Pomeranian finished the run with us but didn't stay for our cool down. We walked a lap around the park and then stretched.

I was super happy that I hit all of my goal paces. Cooled down for about .75 and then played an intense game of ultimate frisbee after. That added about another half mile.

One of our sprinters, Talon Strong, always used to get mad at me for saying my thighs hurt. He said if it was in the front my quads hurt, if it was the back it was my hamstrings. Just fyi

Thank you Eugene for the anatomy lesson. And FYI, both my quads and my hamstrings hurt.

Met up with Reagen and McKenna this morning for a quick run. After a mile warm up and dynamics, we did the five mile loop. The evil goats were there again, but they stayed quiet so no aggressive bleating. 3/4 mile cool down to end our run and then some dynamic and static stretching. It was an overall good run.

Woke up late this morning and was almost late to practice. The team did a mile warm up and dynamics and then the coaches had us do the five mile loop. Jacia, Reagen and I added on kids canal to get in the extra mileage. We maintained a good pace and then surged at the end. That really hurt. Mile cool down with them and McKenna after.

Today a group of us went and ran Dino Tracks. That was pretty fun. We spent some time cliff jumping. I didn't jump because I was scared. It's not the height or the fall, but it's the impact. When I swam, I used to belly flop instead of diving. I hate that feeling and I'm afraid of doing some major belly flop. It would really hurt to from a cliff. Anyways, super fun run.

Today was a speed day. After the usual warm up, we did a fartlek run. It was 5 hard 5 easy, 4 hard 4 easy, and so on all the way down to one. Jacia, Reagen, and I decided to stay on the grass to practice pacing since the majority of our races will be on grass. Cool down dynamics after.

Roadkill Statistics:

We were mainly in the park so there was no roadkill to count.

Woke up and ran to the park this morning. I felt like getting a few more miles today since its core and we don't usually get a lot of mileage on core days. Almost no one showed up for practice. Counting myself there was literally four people. We ran a mile warmup, did some core and then did the canal root. It was an overall easy day. Really, really looking forward to the seventy minute run tomorrow... We saw Pokemon go dude today. He has been very diligent in taking his dog out everyday for the past two weeks for a walk.

Today was another seventy minute run. After the normal warm up, everyone set out. Kedric and Talon joined Jacia, Reagen, and I today. We ended up getting about 8.5 miles in at an 8:26 average pace. All of the girls were really happy. That's faster than we've ever run this before. I think it helped to have a new course. Running the same thing all the time sort of sucks. We did a half mile cool down after. Jacia, Reagen, and I went and dipped our feet in the canal. The water was extremely cold. I'm surprised my feet didn't freeze into giant ice blocks like in cartoons. All three of us are really looking forward to the USU cross country camp next week. I think it'll be really fun, especially since McKenna and Kyrie are coming also.  I saw this snake today and I almost screamed out loud. I hate snakes.

So today was the first day of USU XC camp. It was a joyous run in 100 degree weather. I luckily didn't get dehydrated because I drank like 150oz of water before. It was cool though to run with runners from all over the western United States. I still died though.

This morning we had the Morning Mile Challenge at USU. I ran a 5:48 which is a PR so I'm very happy. In the afternoon we did intervals with groups based on our mile times. My group had to do 12 sets of one minute hard/one minute fast. Cooled down with the Freemont kids after. They're pretty cool. Then in the evening, we ran anothe 3 miles and swam after.

Today was a mile warm up, hurdle stretches, and then a timed 5K on USU's course. It was not my best race but I'm just getting back into the racing mind set. Cooled down with Freemont again. Today was the last day of camp. I was super sad to leave because I had a really good time with Jacia, Reagen, McKenna, Kyrie, and the Freemont kids. I'm excited to attend this camp next year.

My legs were really sore today. Luckily it was just core and an easy run. Henderson ran with McKenna and I. It was nice to be able to have a little more one on one time with him.

My stomach sunk this morning when I remembered that Henderskn had said it was going to be mile repeats. Nevertheless, I got myself out of bed and went to practice. After the mile warm up my legs were shot. I still gave it my all on the first repeat. I ran a 7:25. The second one I ran a 7:30. By then, Henderson and Hill told Jacia, McKenna, and I to just cool down. They saw that we weren't running our usual times and wanted us to recover. I didn't argue with that. I'm supposed to take two days off for recovery and that's exactly what I'm going to do. XC camp really killed, but I don't regret it at all. I'm excited for out team camp and plan on getting the death hill record. Pray for me.🙏🏼

So today was the first day of Uintah XC camp. We didn't run until about 3. It was hot. We ran to Matt Warner and back for a total of eight miles. I felt really good at first but then I started dying. It was not a fun run at all. Later, Devin, Coach Hill and some of the student council members taught us how to break boards with our hands. I broke mine on the first try so that was awesome.

In the morning we did repeats. After a mile warm up we did 2x1 mile and 3x800. I hit pretty fast times and came in right behind Jacia so I was happy. We went and dipped our feet in the lake after.

In the evening we had the Amazing Race. My team was the Red Hauts. We were lead by our co-captains Marcus and Kyrie. We were in second for a while until we got to the canoeing challenge. We pulled into first but then the canoe capsized when I was in it. We fell into last place but quickly made up that time and finished 3rd overall. We won tug of war though. My team last year was last overall but we won tug of war. Coach Hill said the course was about 3 miles and we ran/jagged it so I counted it.

Today was the day everyone looks forward to at camp: Death Hill Day. Woke up early and mentally prepared myself. We warmed up a mile. Coach Hill blew the whistle and we were off. Jacia, Reagen, and I packed the first mile and then Reagen and I pulled ahead mile two. The thing about Death Hill is, you gain 700 ft in elevation in about a mile. So we're running up this hill and dying. Reagen starts surging and pulls away from me. She and I both broke the girls record. Reagen set it with a 20:21 and I came in with a 20:49. The former record was a 21:11 set by Emily Kitzmiller last year. I was happy I beat it. And I was so proud of Reagen for setting it. She is a beast.

Easy recovery day which was nice. We ran the time trials course after a mile warm up. My muscles were pretty sore today but not as bad as I thought. Camp wasn't as hard as I remembered it being. Nevertheless though, it still kicked my butt.

We met at the track for XC practice. I was starting to wonder why I didn't miss track, until after the warm up when my shins started to hurt. I got major shin splints this last track season and I was happy when they went away. After dynamics we did a timed mile. I ran a 6:25. I was ok with the time but upset it wasn't faster. I must have psyched myself after. A few of us choose to do 4x400 after. Those felt nice, but I still really hate them. I was faster and more consistent on those, averaging an 86 per 400. Mile cool down after to add up to four.

S/O to my buddy Aspen for suffering through the 400s with me.

Today was an LSD run. Since all of the girls I usually run with are out of town, I ran with Hunter and Caleb. They were going at a pretty nice pace. It was a little fast so it was more of a slower tempo but I didn't mind it. I thought about going with Kenny and Kedric thinking I could hold their slow pace but they spread up and I wasn't feeling like running race pace for 5 miles. I had a good time running with Hunter and Caleb. They pushed me and it was nice to go a little faster today. Cooled down with Talon after.

Today was an easy day. We did the normal warm up and then ran to the high school, which is about a mile. We did the circuit room there and now my shoulders are sore, but it was nice to get a good workout. Ran back to the park with Jacia and Kedric. We took the 2.5 mile route to get a little more mileage in. We did some cool down dynamics with everyone else after. I went driving yesterday on an actual road and didn't screw up so  I was pretty happy about that. Maybe I'll only be a mostly bad driver.

I'm aiming for a sub twenty so we'll see how it goes.

So today was time trials. Jacia and I pumped ourselves up during the warm up, which only made me more excited. Mason and Austin came to cheer on the team. It took a few minutes to start the race because of traffic. As soon as Henderson said go, I was off. Jacia and I were flying. I eventually pulled ahead and started passing people. I was a little nervous that I was going too fast too early but decided to just go with it. I felt pretty good the whole time. My lungs were burning but my legs felt fine. Mason and Austin drove to different parts of the course. I could hear them screaming my name. That helped me push faster. I had a decent kick and ended up pr'ing by 29 seconds. I was the first girl to finish too. This race as a whole was a real confidence booster. Jacia came in a few seconds later and also PR'D. I'm excited for Highland. The course will be challenging but I want to see how hard I can push. We cooled down for a mile afterwards.

Morning: Today was just an easy 3 miles with an intense workout at the high school circuit room. The team had to take a team picture for a thing right after our workout. I'm pretty sure I look like a sweaty monster from the nightmare of a little child.

Afternoon: I did another 5.25 to finish off my mileage for the week. It was hot, but I need the heat training. I was dying and I am pretty sure I again looked like the sweaty monster but whatever.

So Highland was today. The weather sucked. I would describe it as the 7th circle of hell. Girls varsity was the last race so I had to wait a while. I started out fast. It killed but I do better when I just go for it. I was in third for a while until a passed McKenna and Jacia. Reagen caught me and we spent the majority of the race pushing each other. That was nice because I wanted to give up. I had the stomach flu in Monday and haven't been able to really run like I needed. I also have been living on toast and saltines since because I couldn't keep anything else in. I was able to eat today which was good. Anyways, Reagen ended up finishing seven seconds ahead of me with a 20:20. She came in first for Uintah and I was second. The coaches told us we had the two fasted girls times ever on our team for Highland. So even though I didn't PR, today was a major success. Our team is getting to be really strong. One of the freshman, Rachel, ran a 21:57. That is way ahead of where I was at this time last year. She is going to be super fast. I'm so excited to help her achieve her potential. Today was pretty great.

So the coaches have no chill, absolutely none. After the normal warm up, they informed us of their newest torture tactic. In the 40 miles an hour wind, we had to run to yellow hill, do a ladder set on yellow hill, and run back to the high school. The workout would have been okay, but the wind killed. I was blown into oncoming traffic a gazillion times. I m pretty sure I would have died if the workout hadn't already killed me.  Needless to say, I made it back to the land of the living and will run another day.

Today was an easy recovery day. The coaches had us do a mile warm up and two mile run. After that we played games in which I got a mile of running in. It's safe to say that I suck and missionary tag and sharks and Minos. It was a lot of fun though.

Total Distance

Today was speed day. JV had a meet in Altamont so the coaches left the seniors in charge. Rather then do repeats at the park, they decided we had to do them on the track. It was hot and the heat radiated off the track so it was even worse. After a mile warm up we did our work out(1x1600 4x800 4x400). We were supposed to get a walking lap recovery in between each but we ended up jogging it or most of it. I didn't feel to great when we got to our third 800. I'm pretty sure I was dehydrated and developing heat stroke. I thought about stopping but decided to finish. And I did, with really really bad cotton mouth despite the fact that I drank water after every repeat. The workout as a whole was no bueno. No me gusta. I plan on taking the next two days easy because BYU is Saturday.

Today was an easy shakeout run. The bus took us out to Provo today since the meet starts so early and we live a few hours away. I forgot to turn my watch on so I am just guessing on mileage but warm up was a little longer than normal and I had close to a half mile cool down so I think I'm pretty accurate. I'm super pumped for Wasatch tomorrow. I think it'll be a good race.

I hated this course. It was just one hill after another. Satan must have gotten bored with Uintah's course and found a new way to torture high school runners. I was a bit bummed about the slow time but it's inspired me to work harder. I have to if I want to make it to state. I'm excited for a full week of training. Our next meet isn't until Friday so we are going to get some nice speed work in which I need.

Today was a four mile tempo day. Henderson switched out our long runs for tempos. I'm happy with that. I really need the speed training. The run felt good overall. I was a little sore at first but it went away quickly. I averaged about a 7:25 pace. That was pretty good but I think I need to push the pace a little more.

Total Distance

Easy recovery day today. My hips were sore but they have been since the Wasatch invite. Hills tend to do that to me. The tempo yesterday had some hills too so that didn't help. Rachel, Reagen, McKenna, and I did an easy three mile run. It started raining, which wouldn't have been bad except it was like needle drops and it sort of hurt. We did some core after.

Today was the day almost everyone dreads: Yellow Hill repeat day. They weren't too bad today though. We did five ladders with equal rest. Reagen and I pushed hard but didn't kill ourselves. The Wasatch rendezvous is on Friday and we didn't want to be too sore. I was super tired today. I've been doing the morning driving sessions with the instructor so I haven't been getting all my sleep. I can't do it in the afternoon and I don't want to wait so I'm just gonna push through the sleep deprivation.

So today was the rendezvous. Kedric and I both ran first runner so we had a long time to wait. It was nice to get a decent lunch. I wasn't starving for half the day like some meets. Rachel and Kenzie, two of our freshman varsity runners, killed it! They both placed in the top five so they got medals. They ran about what I did last year. That really excited me because that means they could be as fast as I am currently when they are sophomores. My race went ok. Since I was in the fastest girls race, I ran in no mans land for most of it. Fifth place was about 1:10 ahead of me and I was about thirty seconds ahead of seventh. It sucked. Pacing alone was really hard. I didn't realize how much I needed my teammates during a race. After I finished, I found out Reagen Jacia and I were all with in three seconds of each other. That's good because when we race together, we can really ouch one another.

Total Distance

I was only supposed to do three miles today but Reagen and I got distracted and ends up running farther then we meant. We took it at recovery pace though so it wasn't fast. I needed it though.

So region was today. I was nervous earlier this week but today I wasn't. I felt calm and relaxed. I hardly thought about the race on the bus ride out. We actually got to the course early so a lot of the team walked the course again. That was good because I forgot about all of the concrete on the back stretch and had previously planned to wear spikes. I wore flats instead. When it finally came time for the girls varsity race, I got excited. I was ready to race. When the gun went off, all of uintah went into an almost dead sprint. We for once didn't start in the back of the pack. We were all really close together. Jacia lead the pack for a while and then McKenna took the lead. After the race broke up, so did our pack, but we were still really close to one another. McKenna and I took turns leading. The course this year was extremely flat, which I didn't like as much. I still felt really good though. We were sustaining a good pace and I didn't feel like I was going to die off. At the last 800 meters, I took lead of the pack with McKenna close behind. I tried to catch two Spanish Fork girls but they were far enough to ahead that I couldn't. I finished the race in 20th. A Wasatch girl barely passed me at the end. Uintah ended up placing fifth overall. We missed qualifying for state by 18 points. We were all a little bummed about that. Later on though I found out that I, along with the two Spanish fork girls, qualified individually. I was really excited. I'm sad that my team can't race with me, but I'm excited to run at state. It's my first time. I hope to run a good time and maybe even place somewhat decent. I want to give my best effort for myself, the coaches, and my team. Without them, I wouldn't have gotten to where I am now. I'm excited to represent Uintah at state.

Total Distance

Today was a recovery day. After the death paced warm up, led by Talon. It started out normal, but then he started speeding up. The competitive side of me refused to be one uped. So I started going even faster, and so Reagen did too. We all have pacing problems. :) Galley then sent us on a two mile recovery run. However, Reagen and I took the pace faster so we could get a better workout in. We averaged 8:00 according to Reagen's watch and my phone. It actually felt super good. I've noticed that the tempos have started to feel a lot better than the long runs have. I'm thinking it's probably just an endurance thing. After the run, Galley led us in some core. I plan on doing more later.

Total Distance

So Reagen and I decided to run at four. There had been a small snow storm, but we thought ehh, it's been light all day. It got worse. We should have known better. We still managed to get a good amount of mileage at a good pace. I felt really good. I could have gone farther I think.

So today was long run day! My favorite day!¡!¡! After a mile warm up, Reagen and I set out for our six mile run. We wanted to do more but Coach Hill told us to back off on the miles, so we did. Anyways, it was super cold. The snow had all melted away luckily, it was just a nice cool 36 degrees. I am definitely going to have to run in the afternoons from now on.

I felt really good throughout the whole run. It was nice to get a proper distance run in. I did a seven miler on Monday too, but it was in the morning. I had somewhere to be so I opted to skip warm up and cool down. I regretted that later. I didn't do that today though, I learned my lesson.

Those cows you speak of "ring a bell". I think I know where you ran

So you've experienced the scary cows too?

Today was a short and sweet run. I ran from my house to the park. I'm not sure what the pace was but it felt fast. I didn't warm up or cool down, which I really need to do. But I felt super good on my run. I hit that point where even though your out of breath, you just feel amazing. I wish all of my runs felt like that.

Today was a sort of distance day. Due to rain and cold, Reagen and I ended up doing 4 miles at a pretty good pace. I felt like I could have gone a bit farther, but coach Hill advised against it. FootLocker is next week, I'm pretty excited. I'm racing a 5k on thanksgiving so hopefully I'm still in pretty good shape.

We had a speed workout today. We did one mile(ish) at about eighty percent. That was followed by 10 repeats. Coach Hill had us run up hill, around some trees, and back to the started. That added up to a mile give or take. Those hurt, but felt good. We have thanksgiving break now. I plan on getting in some good runs before footlocker.

Today was an easy five mile run. I actually felt super good today. At one point though, five semi trucks passed me and the exhaust was killing my lungs. Other than that though, it was a great run! I'm super pumped for tomorrow, Thanksgiving is probably one of my favorite holidays.

I ran the community thanksgiving 5k today. I felt pretty good through most of it. It wasn't as cold as last year. My lungs were killing me though, I haven't fully adjusted to te cold weather yet. I was in first place for the girls for most of the race. I was barley passed with a half mile to go. I would have passed her but I didn't have the motivation. I ended up winning $50 though. That was nice (I'm poor). S/O to Kedric and Kenny for being beasts and killing it.

Today was an easy seven miles. It was pretty cold and my legs were tight. Other than that, I felt pretty good. I should run when it's warmer, but it's more convenient in the morning.
