I’ve been running for just over three years now and I love it! I hope to do it for the rest of my life. I appreciate a good dad joke and am a closet math nerd.

Tempo run this morning! It felt really good. I’ve read a few things about how tempos should be about 80-90% effort run (30-40 seconds off race pace) for 20 minutes, so I’ve been doing that for the past few weeks. I ended up reaching three miles at about 20:30, so that was a real confidence booster. I really want to reach a sub 19 three mile this year. I just need to stay mentally healthy and focused.

I broke 20 minutes today which was a big deal. I felt really good today. I hit this runners high after a mile and started picking up speed. It was a great race and I’m excited to see what else I can do. We have a meet Saturday so that will be good. Girls team is looking pretty good.

So it’s been a while. Small recap of cross country: the season started really well, but four races in I got a high ankle sprain which put me out for a month. That really sucked because I finally had the confidence and physical ability to run fast. But, I fought back and still made it to state. And I finished this year. #nowalkingpnuemonia Even though my senior season wasn’t what I wanted, I proved that I’m not a quitter and I fight hard under all circumstances. That will serve me well in life hopefully. 

Anyways, I ran three easy miles. I wanted to run outside but I had to work, so sadly I ran on the treadmill. I was planning on doing another two after I lifted, but this creepo kept matching my pace on the rec track and running with me. I opted to just end early. I’m really going to focus on enjoying the process this winter. Running is something I do because I enjoy it, so I plan on keeping that in mind.

Just a quick and easy run today. It felt pretty good other than some soreness in the legs.

3.5 miles, about 45 minutes of lifting, and then a 1.5 mile cool down

I actually love workouts like this. They’re a nice change to routine. Also watched the swim meet today. I missed being in swim team for about .5 seconds, and then remembered that competitive swimming sucks. I think I’ll stick to just cheering from the side lines. 

I ran into a teammate who asked me why I wasn’t going to footlocker. A) I’m not in shape for a race. So why commit to something I’m not prepared for? B) I’ve got a lot going on for school. It sucks that I’m not going, but I know training will be better in the long run. Plus, at least at my school, nobody really takes it seriously anymore. The same teammate told me I’m working harder than the people who are going. Idk if that’s true, but still...

yeah, footlocker is more of a fun trip than anything bc we don’t really have an amazing program. it was fun to toe the line in cali w people like garek and get absolutely destroyed though!

it doesn’t matter if you don’t go to footlocker if you whoop everyone in track though.

I think we have a good program, but not the right attitude. Even I’m guilty of it... but yeah, hopefully track goes well. Just need that 3200 record and a trip to state and I’ll be golden

I got to see my bestest friend ever today because she’s home for the break!!! I’ve really missed her. She was my main running buddy so it was great to catch up today. We saw about 25 deer today. We did the pond loop and I almost died because this deer basically ran me over. But it was worth it, I love that run. It started snowing towards the end. It was peaceful but definitely didn’t want to run in it for too long. I’m going to start working with a trainer soon to build muscle up for track. I’m pretty pumped for that.

Working with the trainer sounds interesting.. I look forward to hearing about that. I need to do something as well to develop more leg strength and speed for track.

Eva, you should lift weights to build muscle, and work on short and fast intervals 200m or less to work on raw speed. Hill sprints help too.

Eva, I would definitely lift. I’ve done a little just on my own and it has helped a ton!

Also, one of my favorite things to do is make training plans for running. I probably make one for the next few months for myself once a week. Would you mind if I made a schedule you could try out in the offseason(nothing crazy), and see if it works at all, if you don't have a plan already that is

Eugene, I would love to see what kind of plan you could come up for me. Not sure if I will be able to do it or not though. Pretty much have to do what coach says. I don't think they have ever heard of "offseason" here in Japan. They train like crazy all the time. I should be in Seattle during the Christmas holiday though, so maybe I can do it then.

Rylie. I will try to do some lifting on my own. Not really sure on what to do or how often to lift though.

I need to work on flexibility as well. Coach told me that I am too tight and that I should spend 15 to 20 minutes after every workout on flexibility exercises.

Flexibility is definitely important Eva! That is one of my weak points too.

Eugene I just saw this! Don’t worry about graduation. It rained and hailed and was super cold. Definitely would not be enjoyable for anyone watching as it wasn’t for those of us graduating.
